Continuous stamping is sensitive to coil consistency. Even when grade and nominal dimensions are unchanged, burr direction, edge condition, coil shape, joint count, coil weight and temper can affect feeding stability and downstream stamping. The RFQ should therefore define both material requirements and coil-delivery requirements.

For slitting, edge trimming or cut-to-length work, specify finished width, edge condition, coil ID, packaging and acceptable joint conditions. Organizing production and inspection around these purchasing parameters is more useful for repetitive manufacturing than reviewing material identity alone.
