Copper Procurement Specification Checklist: Grade, Dimensions & Tolerances

A practical specification checklist for copper plate, strip, tube, bar and busbar inquiries before quotation.

Confirm the Product Form First

Different copper products are controlled by different primary dimensions. Plate is normally confirmed by thickness, width and length; tube by outside diameter, wall thickness and length; busbar and custom profiles may require cross-section dimensions or drawings.

  • Product form
  • Grade or material system
  • Order standard
  • Temper or hardness condition

State the Key Dimensions Completely

A single dimension is rarely enough for an executable quotation. Put the primary dimensions, tolerances and quantity in the same purchase requirement.

  • Thickness / width / length
  • Outside diameter / wall thickness / length
  • Cross-section dimensions or drawing
  • Quantity, unit length or coil weight

Confirm Processing Before Quotation

If the order needs slitting, shearing, cutting, drilling, tin plating or other processing, state it during quotation so material pricing and finished processing requirements are not mixed together.

Finish with Delivery Conditions

Destination, packaging, labels, batch identification and required documents affect the final delivery plan. For export orders, confirm them before the order is released.
